Kitchen Sinks

Things to Consider when choosing a new Sink

Choosing the right kitchen sink is essential, not just for the room's aesthetics but also for its functionality. With a myriad of materials, sizes, and styles available on the market, it's important for Australian homeowners to consider their needs and the quality of the product they're investing in. At Burdens Bathrooms, we value helping you create a space that’s efficient and enjoyable, offering only the best brands backed by solid warranties and catering to various budgets. Here are some things to consider when picking out your new sink.

Understanding Sink Materials

Stainless Steel

• Pros: Highly durable, easy to maintain, stain and corrosion-resistant.
• Cons: Water spots and fingerprints may show unless properly cleaned.

Granite Composite

• Pros: Robust, available in multiple colors, resists heat and scratches.
• Cons: May require regular maintenance to prevent stains and protect color.

Fireclay

• Pros: Strong resistance to stains and scratches, sleek and clean appearance.
• Cons: Potential for chipping, often at a higher price point.

Size and Configuration

• Single Bowl: Ideal for smaller kitchens; offers more space for large items.
• Double Bowl: Perfect for tasks like washing and rinsing simultaneously; useful for larger households.
• Bowl with Drainer : Provides an extra prep or drying area for the ultimate in functional multitasking.

Mounting Options

• Undermount: Creates a continuous flow from countertop to sink; typically requires professional installation.
• Top Mount or Drop-In: User-friendly installation, though debris buildup along the rim is possible.
• Apron Front or Farmhouse: Lends a classic aesthetic; may necessitate special cabinets or supports.

Delving Into Depth and Faucets

• Choose a depth that matches your physical comfort and cooking needs – whether it's less splashing with a shallower sink or more space with a deeper one.
• The number of faucet holes should align with your kitchen’s layout and functionality, including sprayers, soap dispensors, and other accessories.

Noise Reduction and Finishes

• Sinks with noise-dampening pads or thicker gauge steel can be quieter and more pleasant to use. These can often be in coatings that are underneath the sink that dapen it's noise properties as well.
• Finish your sink in a way that harmonizes with your kitchen’s design, be it stainless steel or matte black. There are other amazing colours available like brass or copper sinks as well.

Brand Reputation and Warranty

• Trust in brands that come recommended and have been proven to last, with guarantees that uphold your investment.
